Art Deco Machine Age Skyscraper Style Drinks Table in Black Lacquer and Chrome

Description
This stunning and graphic Art Deco Machine age drinks table was realized in the United States circa 1935. It features a skyscraper style tiered base consisting of a lustrous chrome circular form sitting on a black lacquer base of the same shape. A lacquer cylindrical embellishment with banded detailing in chrome ascends from the skyscraper style base where it adjoins a chrome rod that extends to the rectangular table top (also in black lacquer). The table top offers to handles on opposite sides created by two rectangular chrome strips separated by spherical forms in the same material. These simple geometric forms- representing the reductive aesthetic of early modernism- abound through excellent examples of Machine Age Design. With its clean modernist lines, monochromatic palate, and beautiful craftsmanship, this piece is as versatile as it is aesthetically compelling, blending with any style of decor from classic Art Deco to contemporary. It has been newly restored to mint condition.
