Description
A superb and rare single walnut Anglo/Dutch marquetry side chair circa 1730 identical to chairs from the Lord Leverhulme Collection as referenced in Percy MacQuoid’s, “The Leverhulme Antique Collections, Vol. III, Furniture, Tapestry and Needlework”, Fig. 189, Plate 33. The marquetry inlay is of very high quality and is extremely rare in such profusion on a chair, hinting at the influence of continental craftsmen.
