Pair Italian Midcentury Lacquer & Screenprint Side Tables by Piero Fornasetti
-
Description
A Rare and Important Pair of Italian midcentury Side or End Tables by Piero Fornasetti. The pieces are beautiful compositions of form and design in the Modern Neoclassical aesthetic. The tables utilize classical imagery and rest on delicate neoclassic inspired tripod, black enameled iron bases that are finished with octagonal brass finials. The contrast between the faux bamboo style black legs and brass finials provides balance and quiet drama. The round tops are lacquered in black and gold forming a harmonious pattern with the bases. They are screen printed with images of an inner circle of braided rope that is surrounded by the images of significant ancient Romans. Overall, it is an enchanting creation uniting the past with the modern present.
It is rare to locate a genuine pair of pieces that capture the ingenuity,
design prowess and astute humor of Piero Fornasetti. These works represent Fornasetti's timeless appeal and contribution to 20th Century Decorative Arts. Fornasetti and Gio Ponti collaborated on many pieces. Please see the video for an intimate look of these timeless creations. -
