From every angle, this chair is visually arresting; from the front to the sides and back, the curves and geometric lines provide plenty of visual interest. This wicker armchair has a distinct designer edge, and the quality handwoven wicker makes it an outstanding example of woven furniture from the 1960s in Italy.

With a classic design with rounded edges and an airy feel, the flowing lines of the frame and seat are visually striking, and paired with the organic wicker material, possess understated elegance. The straight lines are mainly in service of the structural stability but are no less appealing. The back is especially eye catching as it flows down to form the armrests, creating balance between the curved and straight lines. The look is completed by the upholstered seat cushion folded to support the lower back as well. The light bouclé fabric stands out beautifully against the wicker. Italy developed its own, distinctive style, where traditional Italian artisanship was met with a luxurious look and quality, while often combining these with raw, inexpensive materials and with new forms of modern minimalism. This armchair represents a keystone of the Italian design culture from the mid-20th century through its creative and rigorous composition that expresses a particularly high degree of aestheticism.
