Full Circle Modern specializes in vintage furnishings from the second half of the 20th century, with an emphasis on quality designer pieces from the 1960s and 1970s, increasingly reaching into the 1980s. Inventory includes the work of Paul Evans, Karl Springer, Charles Hollis Jones, Vladimir Kagan and Milo Baughman, among others, with a predilection for pieces best described as functional art. Dominant materials are shiny metals, polished lucite and glass, expressive burl wood, and patinated bronze, as well as exotic finishes such as shagreen, horn and goatskin. Owners Barry Rice and Roger Ward appreciate that modernism is not a straight line, but rather a boisterous conversation. On the surface, brutalism doesn't seem to have much in common with the rock-star-chic furniture of the 1970s, but both share roots in earlier branches of modernism, and both find a comfortable place in Full Circle Modern’s inventory. The collection can be seen in Full Circle Modern’s 2,000-square-foot loft showroom in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Call or e-mail to plan a convenient time to visit. Expect to find the unexpected—refurbished, re-contextualized, and ready for your home or project.
