Circa 1870s, terracotta earthenware with lovely original patina, Work of Art by French sculptor Auguste Joseph Peiffer (1832-1886), signed. Peiffer was specialized in presenting mythological and allegorical subjects as gracious marble and bronze sculptures of women. He is famous for this creation entitled "Sparrows" of which he realized several bronze models in different sizes, but very few terracotte that are considered rarer. This work is particularly attractive for its delicacy in the attitude and her changing expression. Some of his works are exhibited in French museums.
