Description
A Grand Tour Regency bronze figure of Mercury (Hermes) on a composite marble column, the messenger of the gods is shown running on winged feet supported on a puff of wind with a torch raised aloft and a winged helmet on his head, the column comprising a lapis lazuli dome, Frosterley marble from County Durham and a Verde Antico stepped plinth. Italian and English, circa 1815.
