Antique Basket Chest in Wicker and Wrought Iron. Europe, 19th Century.
A very decorative antique basket chest in wicker and wrought iron. Beautifully aged. Great simple design with a primitive lock mechanism - a bar in nicely patinated wrought iron and two wicker straps. A wonderful piece with a great wabi sabi appearance.
Due to its age this basket shows wear, traces of (old) treated woodworm and a nice patina. It is quite a delicate object and therefore has to be used as a mostly decorative item.
