Italian, 20th Century
Height 2.5cm, width 8cm, depth 5cm, weight 475 grams
These charming silver boxes, which could have been made as salt and pepper or pill pots, are each crafted to resemble a small crab. Crafted with great precision and superbly realistic, they make for a highly desirable set of collectibles. They all are complete with shells, four legs on either side, and a pair of pincers, and they open up with a hinge towards the rear. These quirky and delightful objects are also completed with eyes made of red coral, adding a welcome spark of colour to these sterling silver pieces. They are stamped for Gianmaria Buccellati, and embossed 925.
