City in western China (Xinjiang Province), active since the 18th century. Moderate weave on cotton. Long rugs (k'ang formats) and more recently room sizes, in semi-geometric patterns featuring pomegranates, vases, medallions, palmettes. Somewhat subdued palettes. A few still-life pictorials.
