Description
A characteristic Malayer straw medallion with doubled pendants and rounded "claws" is centred by a navy and light blue octofoil, on a navy Herati pattern ground. Ivory strip-style border with revering turtles and small rosettes. West Persian, cotton foundation, medium weave. Probably from Malayer town itself. Good condition. Malayer is within the Greater Hamadan Weaving Area and has numerous satellite villages actively weaving rugs.
