Description
A large antique Japanese, late Meiji era, enamel over brass tray. The tray is enameled with a polychrome medallion depicting a butterfly surrounded by floral and foliage patterns, and images of dragons on a black ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The border features a wicker pattern. The backside of the ware is adorned with a swirl motif made in the same technique. Scalloped rims. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century
