Description
This striking abstract painting by American artist Jack Wolfe features expressive brushwork, balancing bold swaths of color against a dark palette.
Jack Wolfe, a Boston-area artist who passed away in 2007, was one of the most promising young artists of the 1950s. The renowned art historian Meyer Shapiro called Wolfe's work "significant for the history of 20th century American art." His work has been shown by many prominent institutions, among them the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. -
