Description
An oil on canvas featuring an elegant Lady and a Pierrot.
The work is housed in a beautiful period gilt French frame.
Signed lower left and titled and dated '59 verso.
Canvas measures 18 x 21.75 inches.
Frame measures 25.75 x 29.5 inches.
Garry was born in 1891 in Paris and died in the same city in 1973.
He was a pupil of Gabriel Ferrier, Jules Adler and Francois Flameng.
He debuted in 1912 at the Parisian Salon des Artistes; also exhibited at the Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts and Salon Independants.
In 1925 he painted ceilings of the famous Brasserie Lipp, on the Boulevard Saint-Germain, with African scenes. He had become familiar with Africa after trip on behalf of the French Colonial Secretary.
