Black Lacquered Metal Saucer Wall Lights by Maison Arlus, France 1950s
-
Description
Maison Arlus is a French lighting design company that was founded in the early 20th century by Robert and Jean Arlus. The company quickly gained recognition for its innovative and stylish lighting fixtures, which were characterized by their use of high-quality materials and their focus on functionality.
Maison Arlus became particularly well-known for its use of metal and brass in its designs, as can be seen with these wall lamps. The main decorative elements are placed around the functional parts, namely the Perspex shades. A modern look is achieved by the sleek execution of the black lacquered saucer-like silhouette. Despite being made of metal, the bodies appear light thanks to the brass structures connecting to the back plates. This set of wall lamps has a look that is ageless and can stand out but also complement any space.
Over the years, Maison Arlus collaborated with a number of notable designers, including Jacques Biny, Pierre Guariche, and Michel Buffet, and continued to produce a wide range of lighting fixtures that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Today, many of Maison Arlus's vintage designs are highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts.
