Description
A Large French brass palm tree floor lamp, style of Maison Jansen
French, 20th Century
Height 159cm, diameter 60cm
In the style of late twentieth century pieces by Maison Jansen, one of the leading Parisian interior design house of the last century, this piece is a large, striking, and impressive brass floor lamp in the shape of a palm tree.
Palm tree lamps much like this were sold in the 1960's and 70's by Maison Jansen, and they continue to remain popular and be prized, as do works in their pioneering style. An experimental and often avant-garde design house, their works ranged from those using royal French styles of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, all the way through to the Art Deco and the contemporary. They closed doors in 1989.
The fine piece, bold, bright, and radiant, is a remarkably impressive piece of interior design, making for a unique interior addition, and a fine testament to the legacy of one of the great design houses of the past one hundred years.
