Description
Available today, this Baroque Colonial medium square sunburst mirror made in hardwood & gold leaf in Peru during the twenties is beautiful!
This mirror is made in worked hardwood, plaster, terracotta bull and gold leaf sheets. While the style is inspired in Baroque colonial sunburst mirrors, the technique is Peruvian executed by Peruvian artisans in the 1920’s decade. This can be seen in the rich texture and unique gold detailing, resembling ethnic motifs from the Andes. The glass is original also.
The mirror is in its original condition and while it has some minor dents and small pieces of plaster missing (as detailed in the pictures), the piece is great condition and will certainly add the wow factor to any interior space.
The mirror is in its original condition and while it has some minor dents and small pieces of plaster missing (as detailed in the pictures), the piece looks spectacular and has a lot of character.
A gorgeous piece like this would look wonderful in any traditional, modern, rustic, or even French country modern or American farmhouse environment.
This rare piece belonged to a private residence in Cusco, the Peruvian region in the Andes with the finest artisans of the country.
The last image shows the mirror next to a smaller mirror for context of size.
