French Pair of 19th Century Carved & Painted Mirrors
-
Description
Dimensions: 47 ¾” H x 37 ⅜” W x 2 ⅞” D
A poetic pair of French 19th century wall mirrors carved to high-relief with scrolling vines and flowers in dense accumulation across the molding. Further depth is created by nuanced “French grey” paint in gradation of slate blue to pumice which has a craquelure texture, revealing what appears to be a gilded finish underneath. Mirror glass is likely a replacement, without the expected crystals and foxing of originals. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a pair. -
