Description
A fine pair of large late Victorian mahogany eagle sofas, each with a rectangular back and scrolling armrests, the face of each arm boldly carved with an openwork eagle holding a writhing snake in its beak, above graduated flowerheads, the chair rail carved in low relief with Vitruvian scrolls, the front legs comprising further eagle heads and ball and claw feet, reupholstered in burgundy leather. English, circa 1900.
