Arts & Crafts Metamorphic Library Steps Folding Ladder Chair, Vienna, 1900s
-
Description
A metamorphic Arts & Crafts multi-functional convertible natural wood chair, dated around 1900. Beautifully crafted in Vienna/Austria, this piece is both highly practical and rich in character. Commonly referred to in Viennese dialect as an „Ottakringer", the chair easily transforms into a compact library ladder or step chair with a simple folding mechanism. It features a side hook that locks the structure securely in place. Solid and stable, it remains in good vintage condition with plenty of authentic patina and charm. A nice example of smart turn-of-the-century design, this unusual and decorative piece makes a functional yet distinctive addition to any home or interior.
