Charles Eames for Herman Miller Chaise Longue and Ottoman, 50s
-
Description
Charles Eames is a very important designer in design history, who worked along with his wife Ray and together realized many iconic pieces of furniture. Their relationship with Herman Miller began with molded plywood chairs in the late 1940s and includes the world-renowned Eames lounge chair, now included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Graphic design led them to showroom design, toy collecting to the invention of toys. In addition, a contraption consisting of a wooden board, set up by their friend and director Billy Wilder to take a nap, led to the design of their acclaimed chaise longue.
Here we have a first edition of the iconic chaise longue with ottoman designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 50s. As you can see in the set of photos, under the ottoman there still is the original brand mark by Herman Miller, their very first manufacturer; both the armchair and the ottoman have the serial number.
The dimensions of the armchair are 80 x 81 x 80 cm; the ottoman's are 41 x 53 x 65 cm.
