Set of four Biedermeier Shovel chairs, cherry veneer, South Germany, circa 1820

Elegant and comfortable set of four original, rare, neoclassical Biedermeier shovel chairs (scoop shaped back). Friendly, bright cherry wood veneered (shovel and apron) and solid on the legs. All the wooden parts have been elaborately hand-polished with shellac (French polished).
Newly upholstered with black structured velvet fabric by JAB with double keder.
