Description
Beautiful symmetric highboard designed by Alfred Hendrickx; one of the best designers from Belgium in the ‘60’s and manufactured by Belform, Belgium 1958. This highboard is a hallmark of Belgian design, showcasing the precision and aesthetic sensibility characteristic of the era. Constructed from beech wood and accented with a striking black frame, this piece merges classic materials with a modernist design ethos.
The highboard is distinguished by its sliding doors, one finished in the natural warmth of beech wood and the other in off-white. This color contrast not only enhances the visual appeal but also allows the piece to stand out in any interior setting. Behind these doors lies a well-organized interior featuring several drawers and shelves, providing ample storage space for a variety of items from dinnerware to books and decorative objects.
A unique addition to this highboard is its small, integrated bar area, perfect for storing spirits and glassware, making it an ideal choice for those who entertain frequently or enjoy the convenience of an at-home bar.
The black frame not only supports the structure but also adds to its visual lightness, making it appear as if it's floating above the ground. This design element highlights Hendrickx's ability to fuse functional design with aesthetic grace.
In very good original condition, this highboard is more than just a piece of furniture—it's a versatile and stylish statement that captures the spirit of mid-century modern design. It offers both functionality and a timeless elegance, making it a superb addition to any contemporary home seeking a touch of historical design flair. -
