This one-of-a-kind, monumental French Art Deco desk is a striking testament to refined craftsmanship. Originally purchased at the iconic "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes" in Paris in 1925, this piece was then later acquired by Cosulich Interiors & Antiques from a private château in France, preserving its legacy and exceptional provenance.
Expertly handcrafted, the desk features rich rosewood tones adorned with intricate hand-carved motifs, lavishly accentuated with genuine 24-karat gold leaf that the original owner told us had an attribution to Louis Süe et André Mare, see the image enclosed.
This ornate detailing with flowers and corn of abundance, iconic decors of the Art Deco —visible on the panels, legs, and central drawer— is of the highest quality and speaks of classical luxury while retaining the clean, structured lines typical of the Art Deco movement.
Functionally, the desk offers a commanding central workspace flanked by two side doors for concealed storage, with drawers on one side, and a leather top, replaced in the 1970s. On the back are elegant glass shelves ideal for display and offering a decorative touch to visitors.
The middle shelving compartment at the back measures: 23in H x 24in W x 6 in D
A very rare collector's piece and a stunning focal point in any sophisticated office or study.
