Description
A very large mahogany centrepiece partners’ desk in the Chippendale style, attributed to Maples or Gillows, of oval form with a replaced green leather top, the frieze with six small and two dummy drawers, each side with a kneehole containing a cupboard flanked by two deep drawers bearing recessed brass handles behind cupboard doors, decorated throughout with crossbanding, strapwork borders and high quality pendant garlands on the kneehole panels and crossed tapering trellis designs on the cupboard doors. English, circa 1900.
