Italian Neoclassical Carved, Painted and Gilded Console Table

Description
An exquisite and elegant Florentine 18th century Louis XVI period carved, painted and gilded wood Neoclassical console table, with Carrara white marble top. The rectangular frieze is decorated on the front and sides with carved and gilded flutes, on the front, a central gilded rosette is surrounded by exuberant acanthus leaf decoration, with the rosette motif repeated on the corners of the front and the sides. The freestanding consoles are raised by circular tapered legs with acanthus leaf gilded carvings, gilded beaded banding on the upper portion above carved, gilded, fluted and tapered legs, ending in acanthus leaf decorative and supported on toupie shaped feet. A stunning contrast between the original gilding, warm green paint and white Carrara marble top. All paint and gilding are original to the piece. Unfinished on the backside.
