This sophisticated Mid Century Modern desk was realized in Italy in 1948. It features tapered volumetric triangular atomic form black lacquer legs at the base that support a stylized rectilinear body in sumptuous bookmatched walnut with a vertical running grain. The lacquer recurs on the drawers on the cabinet that composes the left side of the desk. The top of the piece consists of a beautiful forest green vitrolite circumscribed in walnut. With its sophisticated juxtaposition of modern materials and dynamic forms- full of verve and élan- this piece exemplifies the qualities that discerning collectors look for in first rate Italian Mid Century pieces. Its refined color palate and clean modernist lines also make it incredibly versatile. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century to contemporary. It has been newly restored to mint condition.
