Description
Great work of Maurice Wade dated 1971
Maurice Wade was born in 1917 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. His painting seek portray the particular character of the Potteries, perhaps the last area to maintain visible traces of the industrial revolution.
Wade received his formal art training at the Burslem School of the Stoke-on-Trent College of Art and has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon, The Royal Society of British Artists, the Salford City Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent City Art Gallery and Keele University. He was a Gold medallist and exhibitor Hors Concours, Societe des Artistes Francais.
His paintings, done with a knife, have an almost reproductive quality and yet surprisingly convey a dream-like quality. They are in the artist’s words “More real than reality
His work is in both public and private collections, including the British Government Art Collection. -
