Stephen Tomar grew up in Southeastern Pennsylvania where he graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. After a brief stint as a textile and interior designer, and stylist in New York City, he returned to Philadelphia to open up his own design firm. Success spawned hotel projects with Host Enterprises Resorts, Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn and several other independent hotel companies in New York City.
Over the years, his range of corporate experience has included companies small and large, such as corporate offices in New York and Culver City of MGM, Columbia Pictures and Paramount Studios and for other International Networks in Beverly Hills. He designed the personal office and dressing room for Television Judge Judy Sheindlin at Sunset Bronson Studios. Stephen and his partner Stuart Lampert attracted attention from the Hollywood elite, and soon they were designing interiors for the biggest names in the business. Their design and renovation of Johnny Carson’s Malibu beach front home, his Manhattan apartment and his condo in Los Angeles were profiled in Architectural Digest as was their renovation and design of the Beverly Hills home of Isabel Goldsmith. Stephen Tomar and Stuart Lampert were recently given credit in, design and backgrounds of Art Collector Beth Rudin DeWoody’s guest apartment in Architectural Digest.
In 2001 Stephen Tomar and Stuart Lampert opened up their modern furniture line “Stephen Tomar Furniture” which is designed and manufactured in Los Angeles, with showrooms that have represented them successfully at Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, The Design Center of the Americas in Florida, The Merchandise Mart in Chicago and Dallas among others. Furniture out of the “Stephen Tomar Furniture” collection have been featured recently in the latest issue of Interior Design Spring Market Curve-A Licious Issue (May 2018) and shown in Traditional Home, House Beautiful, CVLUX and Wall Street Journal.
Stephen Tomar Furniture line in Florida is exclusively represented at the J Nelson Showroom at the South Florida Design Park in Hollywood, FL. Our furniture line is sold to interior designers, architects and hospitality trade.
