Forged Iron Two-Tier Chandelier
-
Description
Forged iron two-tier chandelier with nine lights (three upper tier and six lower tier), tole bobeches, fleur d’lis motif and remnants of old gilt. Late 19th century and modified in the early 20th century to accommodate electrical wiring. Newly-wired and includes extra chain and a canopy.
Iron chandelier is all hand-forged, riveted construction with tole bobeche cups. The only welds are later early 20th century modifications: small metal tubes to hide electrical wiring. Nice natural patina from decades of use and wear. Small, very minor losses to edges of tole drip pans. Remnants of attractive, old gilt finish still visible. Height is measured from bottom of chandelier up to the top of the decorative hook (more chain above it). -
