SWEDISH GRACE, SCANDINAVIAN ART DECO CHANDELIER WITH OPPOSING FLOWERS
-
Description
Very rare Swedish Grace polished brass chandelier which exemplifies the design aesthetic of the 1920’s at its finest. The “Swedish Grace” style was globally recognized at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts World's fair held in Paris, France, 1925.
This Modernist fixture references classicism with light abstract touches such as the stylized floral cluster, leaf form reflectors, and its “split into halves” cylindrical body. The side panels are frosted glass with clear stripes which extend the movement of the body upwards. A dramatically modern finial is balanced by the whimsical flower pot like canopy.
This piece has been fully restored, newly polished and lacquered, and wired with 2 standard base sockets for use in the USA.
