Extremely rare and highly decorative Mid-Century Modern pendant lamp or ceiling light. Designed probably by Mathieu Matégot for Atelier Matégot, France, 1950s.
Two identical lamps have been offered by Phillips Auctions as designed by Mathieu Matègot in two different auctions Dec 13, 2007 and June 12, 2008.
Another one was offered June 25, 2020 by the auctioneer Cornette de Saint Cyr, Brussels.
Since we don't have any proof that this lamp is designed by Mathieu Matègot, we offer it as attributed to the French designer. Nevertheless, It is an exceptional and fascinating fixture.
Executed in enameled and perforated metal and brass, it comes with 4 x E27 / E26 Edison screw fit bulb holder, is with original wiring and in working condition. It runs both on 110/230 Volt.
