Description
Rare perfume cellar or travel scent box, Berthet manufacturer, rue du Temple 198, Paris, France, 1798 / 1808 in precious wood veneer. The lid is decorated with geometric marquetry, with its key. Velvet interior complete with its six cut-crystal bottles including two « pocket bottles », with hallmarked vermeil stoppers and necks, all with their small chains. A vermeil funnel without hallmark, a vermeil cup and a small cup with vermeil handle bearing the following hallmarks: master goldsmith’s hallmark, hallmark « Coq au 1er titre », hallmark « Vieillard » surrounded by the number 8 and 5 (for Paris) and the hallmark of the « Association des orfèvres » between 1794 and 1797.
The bottles still contain perfume and bear the label « Double extrait de verveine. Lubin parfumeur distillateur. Breveté, rue Sainte Anne 55 ». -
