Description
Jacques Adnet Style, French Art Deco Club Chairs, Distressed Leather, Oak, 1930s
Quality pair of leather art deco chairs designed and produced in France circa 1930/40s. These chairs have been newly upholstered in a distressed brown leather. They maintain their original nail heads, oak frame/undercarriage, and oak feet. Tears in the leather prior to upholstery reveal horsehair stuffing used as cushioning. Horsehair was used in antique upholstery up until about the 19th century and is often a mark of high quality due to it's strong and durable nature. The practice became much less common after that due to it's expensive nature and given the fact that cheaper alternatives became more readily available. The last few photos show pre-upholstery condition.
