Description
A very fine Meiji period cloisonné box and cover with butterflies amongst foliage, attributed to Kawade Shibataro, the cover and sides finely worked with silver wire and coloured enamels showing a profusion of butterflies amidst blooms and scrolling leafy tendrils, all reserved against a black ground, with silver rims and a silk lining. Japanese, circa 1880.
