Designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper from the 'Eros' series, the dining or center table in Nero Marquina or black marble features a top mounted on a conical base. This elegant organic table showcases beautiful fine veining throughout the black Marquina marble. Original Skipper label on the underside. As the label attests, this Mangiarotti Nero Marquina marble table belongs to the rare original production of 1971 for Skipper.
Considering Mangiarotti's research on jointless furniture, this side table is an example of a gravity interlocking design where the tabletop, due to its weight, securely fits into the truncated conical base. The word "Eros" refers to the male-female coupling of this interlocking solution. It is a truly ingenious and elegant design.
Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was an Italian architect and industrial designer known for focusing primarily on the needs of furniture users. His designs are solid and robust, and he always used materials capable of standing the test of time. Having studied as an architect, Mangiarotti was very precise in using the right materials and dimensions for his projects. - More Information
