Carved from a solid block of sustainably harvested pine, the La Caja Chair reimagines the classic cube with an organic twist. While its geometric form nods to minimalist sculpture, the chair’s natural wane edges and subtle irregularities soften its lines, creating a piece that feels both structured and raw. Every chair reveals the inherent character of the timber, with knots, splits, and flowing grain patterns that celebrate the variations of nature.

The seat is finished in a rich honey brown stain, regardless of the chosen stain, adding depth and warmth that contrasts with the tones of the chair’s body. A recessed plinth base lifts the design with a floating effect, giving this substantial form a surprising sense of lightness. Whether styled as a sculptural accent or functional seating, La Caja is a tactile connection to nature—bold, simple, and uniquely individual.

Naturally Unique | This style is built from a solid log of wood. Knots, cracks, coloration and grain pattern will vary by piece. Bowties may be present. The Ponderosa Pine used to create this furniture design is sourced in the Jemez Mountains and The Santa Fe National Forest in New Mexico, and is certified as sustainably harvested by Source Verified Good Wood®, an independent third-party organization with a mission to promote sustainability, responsible forest management, and the health of local ecosystems.

SPECIFICATIONS

Ponderosa Pine [Source Verified Good Wood®} - Harvested primarily in the mountains of Northern New Mexico, the wood is seasoned for several months in a solar kiln and allowed to develop organic cracks and separations which occur naturally as the wood dries and shrinks. Time may accentuate these separations, or generate new ones. This movement is considered inherent to the natural beauty of the design.

Interior Finish - Sealed with an eco-friendly, durable waterborne lacquer topcoat, our designs can be placed in interior residential or commercial spaces. This matte-sheen finish is long-lasting and meets KCMA durability requirements for commercial finishes. Features include: Odorless, Extremely Low VOC, HAPs Free, Formaldehyde Free, Phthalate Free and NFPA 255 Class A Rated For Flame Spread. To best care for your new piece simply dust with a dry, soft cloth. Spot cleaning may be done with a damp soft cloth. A mild soap solution may be used. Avoid care products with ammonia, silicone or other chemicals which may harm the finish. Periodic waxing will extend the life of the finish.
