An 1980s exceptional pair of one-of-a-kind hand-sculpted and hand-painted ceramic Moorish head vases by Germano Caltagirone, a renowned ceramic master from Caltagirone, Sicily, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its pottery and artisanal heritage. Original creations signed by the artist, these vintage pieces are striking examples of Sicily’s most iconic decorative tradition, the "Teste di Moro".
The pair features a black Moor male and white female bust, richly detailed with elaborate turbans, scrolling foliage, and ornate jewelry. Their bold palette of cream and turquoise blue is enhanced by high-gloss accents on the lips, striking blue eyes, and adornments, creating a dramatic and luxurious presence.
