18th century Italian painting, portrait of a young lady
-
Description
A splendid Italian painting from the second half of the 18th century. Painting oil on canvas portrait of a young girl is of remarkable pictorial quality. The face is delicate and animated by a subtle smile, while the rosy cheeks and pale complexion are rendered with painterly finesse. Particular attention has been paid to the vivid eyes and the nuanced features, which convey a lively naturalness.
The attire, typical of bourgeois fashion of the late 18th century, features a lace cape with a delightful red ribbon, a fur-trimmed cape, and a pearl drop earring, a detail that emphasizes the lady's rank and refinement. The chromatic balance and psychological attention suggest a high-profile private commission, linked to a cultured and wealthy northern Italian community.
The visual and confidential rendering of the gaze and the exquisite accessories make this a truly evocative painting, capable of elegantly enriching a classic or modern setting. Spectacular 19th-century carved and gilded wood frame, with some losses (see photo) and signs of aging.
It features a stamp with the inscription "Antichità Pietro Accorsi" (see photo). Nicknamed "The King of Antiques Dealers," Accorsi was an undisputed protagonist of 20th-century Turin collecting. The painting has already been restored with re-lining, replacement of the stretcher, and recoloring in small spots. Overall, it is in good condition. Internal dimensions: H 53.5 x D 44 cm. - More Information
