Description
Italian Neoclassical, Marquetry, Satinwood, Demilune Chests, Italy, 19th c.
Exceptionally rare to find even a single Italian Neoclassical chest of this quality. However, here we present a matched pair. Each demilune-form chest features a single drawer above a pair of doors that open to a shelved interior. The façade is adorned with finely executed marquetry depicting an urn with tassel design, framed by satinwood-inlaid columns capped with doré-bronze mounts. The demilune sides decorated in the same form as this design, each flanked by similarly mounted columnar supports. The cases are topped with intricately detailed, sunburst-inlaid surfaces, completing their elegant and refined presentation. A one of a kind pair.
