Standing Buddha on lotus pedestal

Description
Hair of the Buddha is polished with flat, conical ushnisha which symbolizes his enlightenment; face is oval and softly modeled, with full cheeks, expressing benevolence. Torso is relatively slender, with left hand holding a lotus. He wears Chinese style inner garment and Indian style robe covering his shoulders and draping his body. He stands on the lotus pedestal which symbolizes purity. In limestone, retaining some pigment. Tang dynasty, 618 – 907.
