Tiffany Punchbowl & Ladle in Historic Beaux-Arts Olympian Pattern

Showstopping sterling silver punchbowl in historic Olympian pattern. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Round and curved. Exterior encircled with chased frieze of love-making and harp-strumming nymphs, gods, and cherubs. A suggestive pastoral scene set in foliate rinceaux. Cast figural handles with the ivy-covered heads of young Bacchus and slack-jaw satyr. Raised foot with cast egg-and-dart and chased rinceaux borders.
With ladle: Shaped terminal depicting Hebe, the cup bearer, watched over by the eagle of Jove. Tapering stem and double-spout round bowl mounted with leafing-scrollwork (recto) and hirsute head (verso).
In the celebrated Beaux-Arts pattern that was conceived by French designer F. Antoine Heller and debuted at Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878.
Both pieces fully marked including maker’s stamp and director’s letter T (1892-1902). Bowl has pattern no. 6111 and volume (14 pts). Ladle has patent year (1878). Very good condition.
