Cedric Hartman (born 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska) is an American architect and designer known for his refined and minimalist lighting and furniture designs. After an early career in architecture and service during the Korean War, Hartman studied design in Chicago, Paris, and New York before settling in Omaha, where he began producing precision-crafted floor and table lamps in the 1960s.
 
Hartman’s work is defined by its quiet elegance and functional clarity. His signature pieces, including the iconic floor and table lamps with adjustable heads, feature slim profiles and are made from high-quality materials like brass, chrome, acrylic, and stone. One of his most celebrated designs, a travertine and metal side table, reflects his commitment to balance, proportion, and understated sophistication.
 
With a career spanning over six decades, Cedric Hartman became a benchmark of American modernism. His work remains highly collectible and is admired for its timeless simplicity and architectural precision. Today, his pieces are recognized globally as icons of mid-century modern design.
