Lidia Masllorens
Italian, 1967
Lidia Masllorens is a contemporary Spanish artist born in Girona, Spain. She is known for her abstract paintings and mixed media works that explore the relationships between color, form, and texture.
Masllorens studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and began her artistic career in the 1980s. Her early works were figurative, but she later shifted to abstraction, exploring the expressive potential of color and the physical qualities of paint.
Masllorens' paintings often feature bold, gestural brushstrokes, layered colors, and contrasting textures that create a sense of movement and depth. She also incorporates a variety of materials into her works, such as sand, gravel, and bits of paper, to create a rich, tactile surface.
Masllorens' work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Spain, as well as in France, Italy, and the United States. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Joan Miró Prize for Painting in 2013.
