Vivienne Gray
Australian
Vivienne is a seasoned artist with over two decades of experience, specializing in figurative art that blends simplicity, muted tones, and a refined yet whimsical perspective. Her work evokes a sense of nostalgia and subtly weaves in elements of fantasy, inviting viewers into a world where imagination and innocence reign.
Drawing inspiration from her extensive travels, Vivienne’s art is deeply influenced by the architecture and history of ancient cultures, particularly those of Europe. She finds that the meaning of each piece gradually unfolds as she paints, with memories of past travels and stories from old legends surfacing during the creative process. Vivienne’s work is marked by an absence of tragedy; instead, each painting is crafted to bring joy to both herself and her audience, embodying a sense of reverence for the past while remaining open to the possibilities of the future.
Her goal is for her viewers to experience an "escape from the normal," an invitation to explore the unexpected and embrace the many interpretations that images can inspire. Vivienne hopes her work will inspire others to see the world through a different lens—where creativity knows no bounds, and new possibilities emerge from open-minded exploration.
Born in Victoria and now based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Vivienne’s art has found a following both across Australia and internationally. Her works are often sold through private commissions, art shows in Melbourne, and through local galleries in Noosa. She has also donated pieces to charity auctions in Queensland, further contributing to her community.
In addition to her figurative art, Vivienne is currently developing a collection of hand-block printed watercolour designs for her own line of soft furnishings, collaborating with artisans in Jaipur, India, to bring her vision to life through traditional craftsmanship.
