Zelonky Studios

American
Zelonky Studios was established in 2016 following my desire to professionally return to my roots as a designer/woodworker.
In the 1970's I attended the University of Wisconsin Stout majoring in Industrial Management and Fine Woodworking.
I taught Vocational cabinet making outside of Chicago for two years after which I spent time on the West Coast working in various high end cabinetry shops.  While on the West Coast I was fortunate to be able to spend time with a number of Master Crafts people.
I left the West Coast and headed North where, for 5 years I was employed by the Northwest Arctic School District in Northwest Alaska.  Initially  I was hired as the Director of Maintenance and Construction, followed by a variety of positions ending as Associate Superintendent of Schools.  In addition to my employment I studied and worked with aboriginal craftspeople building traditional sleds, and boats.
I moved to New York in the 80's where I attended Columbia University's school of International Administration. I met my wife, a teacher, in the City, where we have raised two children.  After having scraped together funds for an apartment we realized we hand little to nothing left for furniture.  It was at this point that I chose to dust off some old skills and began building all the furnishings for our home.
As my work in the field of International importing and logistics began to lose interest for me and the desire to create pieces and smell sawdust began to gain, I felt it was time for another transition.
I now produce a line of benches manufactured by an outside company while I continue to service the needs of individuals and designers with custom works in the Northeast.
