Raised bands with panels displaying gilt-tooled borders and label lettering. All of the edges are gilt. Includes an account of a visit to the Chaldaean Christians of Kurdistan, and the Yezidis, or Devil-Worshipers; and an inquiry into the manners and arts of the ancient Assyrians. Includes a frontispiece depicting an ancient scene of the destruction of monuments. Published by George P. Putnam in New York, 1849.
