A very good example of the UK first of Camus' masterpiece. Gilbert's wonderful translation matched by one of its era's greatest pieces of book design.

First edition in English, first impression; 8vo; light spotting to margins and fore-edge; publisher's grey cloth, gilt lettering to spine, spine and edges slightly faded, with the original pictorial dust jacket designed by Edward Bawden, neatly repaired tear to front panel, slight edge-wear, spine ends slightly chipped, some toning to edges, overall a very good example.
