-
Description
First Edition. Leatherbound. Six volumes. Octavo. Elegantly bound in 3/4 blue Morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, with marbled paper boards, six gilt-stamped spine compartments, and tan leather spine labels. Also features marbled endpapers and gilt on top edges.
This set also features plate-engraved maps throughout as well as both a 4-page letter and a note, the former by the author himself and the latter by his brother, Sir Charles Napier. Both are signed by their respective authors and are bound in front of the title page in volume 1. Very good. Published in London by John Murray and Thomas & William Boone between 1828 and 1840.
Book's extremeties are mildly rubbed and the backstrips are subtly faded. While the rear pages do have a bookseller's ticket, generally speaking the pages are remarkably bright and show no foxing or water marks. All plates are also present in the books.
All listed dimensions are for a single volume. -
