FRENCH GILT BRONZE FOUR FACE CLOCK, DATE, THERMOMETER & BAROMETER

$ 8,500
  • Description
    An exceptional 19th-century French gilt bronze mantel clock stands as a testament to both craftsmanship and functionality. Crafted circa 1855 by Jean Vincenti et Cie, this timepiece boasts a unique configuration, featuring not just a clock but also additional functional faces, including a date display, temperature gauge, and barometer.

    The clock's rectangular gilt bronze case exhibits meticulous detail, with foliate margins adorning each squared-off corner. It's distinguished by four different circular faces, each serving a distinct purpose:

    The first face displays time, presenting a white enamel clock face marked with black Arabic numerals and minute indices, elegantly enclosed within a beveled glazed hinged bezel.

    The second face is a marvel, featuring Centigrade and Fahrenheit thermometers mounted on a white enamel surface, adorned with black and gold-toned elements.

    The third face serves as an aneroid barometer, with a white enamel display showcasing applied black text and indices. This functional beauty rests beneath a beveled glazed bezel, encasing its intricate inner workings within a hinged door.

    A true marvel of horological engineering, this clock exemplifies the mastery of form and function, a testament to the era's artistry and technological innovation.
